100+ Year Old House

It was originally a farm house and the matriarch of the family was also a piano teacher who taught lessons out of a parlor in the home.

Not spooky but pleasantly paranormal I’d say. We owned a 100+ year old house. Prior to us buying it, only the family (and subsequent offspring) that built it in the late 1800’s had lived there. It was originally a farm house and the matriarch of the family was also a piano teacher who taught lessons out of a parlor in the home.

The house had been renovated, updated and added onto over the years. Most notable an entire kitchen, bedroom and laundry room were added at some point. 70’s maybe?.

The previous kitchen was turned into the dining room which now created a huge “great room” combining the living room and dining room. (Assuming it was an eat-in kitchen previously??)

Anywho, every Sunday morning, in the far corner of the living room we could smell blueberries. Like fresh blueberry muffins or something. Also worth noting this corner was always cold (not just on Sundays).

During a small reno of our own we discovered all of the pipe and ductwork for the old kitchen were still there, just covered with plaster and flooring. Just above where the oven would have been there was a vent that lead to the notorious confectionary corner in the living room, thus the conduction of the yummy Sunday morning pastry smells. Sadly our friendly ghost baker retired after about 2 years of us moving there. The cold corner remained cold.

There was no point in telling you that the matriarch was a piano teacher, that was my attempt at creating suspense (a plot twist if you will) where there was none. This entire story was about ghost blueberry muffins.
