THE PARAMOUNT
“A few of us were working late in the old Paramount building on Polk St back in the early 2000's due to a deadline to meet.
We heard laughter, like an audience laughing at a movie. We all heard it as we called each other to see if anyone else had heard it since some of us where on the 1st floor.
We were the only business on the block at that time that was occupied so it was really weird hearing it.
When we all went out to see what was going on, standing in the lobby, a haze like mist went over us and up the stairs. Then we started to smell cigarette smoke, then heard the laughter again.
There were also times we would hear footsteps in the hallways. No one would be there when we would go see if someone had got in the building. The creepiest part of that building was the basement and the old dressing rooms that were left where the parking garage was.

The Paramount Theater was built in 1932 and was Amarillo's finest movie theater. The building is two-stories and operated as a theater until March 1975. It was converted into office spaces in 1978. Recent restoration efforts have seen the lobby come back to life, as well as the 33.5 ft neon lighted sign.
The business houses offices on the second floor and a coffee shop (Palace Coffee) and an upscale sushi bar (Rain) on the first floor.
