SKELLYTOWN HAUNT
Fair warning, this is going to be a long one. Totally worth the read though. The video I will include is looking at the laundry room door that leads to the back door if you were standing in our kitchen. Read the story, and you’ll understand. Also make sure the sound is on in the video. Watch the laundry room door, the clock on the stove, and the cow picture with glasses that’s closest to the laundry room door.
I moved into a house in Skellytown Texas about 7 years ago. It was one of the older houses that was moved into Skellytown. About a 90-100 year old home. Tiny 2 bed, 1 bath house. It was just me at the beginning and my new boyfriend at the time would stay weekends with me when he was on his days off from working out of town. I never experienced things until he was around more. He slowly moved in and things got quite crazy. He would sometimes stay up late and binge tv shows. One morning he asked if I had gone to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I said “you know I don’t get up to go to the bathroom at night”, “why”? He said he had seen a lady in a nightgown leave our room and go into the hallway then into the bathroom. I brushed it off and just thought he was extremely tired and was seeing stuff, as he also knew I don’t wear nightgowns.
He asked me that again a few weeks later and said he’d seen the same thing. I brushed that off too. He finally moved in completely, but he hadn’t put any of his clothes in the dresser drawers I’d cleaned out for him. I kept telling him to put them up in the drawers how he wanted them because I didn’t want them folded on top of the dresser forever. He still hadn’t done it and we went to pampa to dinner one night and came home and his clothes were thrown all over the bedroom. We joked about his hallway lady throwing them around because he didn’t listen to me.
We had two dogs at the time and we didn’t keep collars on them in the house. We would hear what sounded like the jingle of dog collars walking around the house, but our dogs would be dead asleep in the living room floor or in their crates. Our dogs would also wake up from a dead sleep and stare above me where I sat on the couch and look up in the corner and growl or bark with the hair on the back of their neck standing up like something was there. I’d look up and nothing.
I am a huge lights out person! If you aren’t in the room, turn the light off in that room! Well there were two closets in the entire house. One in each bedroom. The one in our bedroom housed our daily wear clothes and shoes and some storage of crap on the top shelves. The closet in the extra bedroom stored winter coats and things hardly worn, therefore that closet was very rarely used and even when it was, I didn’t turn the light on. Mind you these closets were the old pull string kind. The lights would randomly be on in both closets and I would get so mad about it, because I knew for a fact I’d turned them off. Especially the one in the extra bedroom that I know for sure wasn’t ever used.
My boyfriend mentioned in the kitchen he would always feel like someone was watching him. Like make the hair on the back of your neck stand up feeling. I never got that feeling and tried to brush most of the incidents off and talk myself out of it being anything “haunted”. That was until I started working out of town 5 days a week and my bf was at home by himself those days. He would call me and tell me he’d hear things like footsteps in the house or doors creeping open. Of course me being me, I wasn’t there, so I’d brush it off. Not that I didn’t believe him, but I wasn’t living it at the moment, so it didn’t bother me as much I guess. And when I was home, things didn’t really happen besides the dogs stuff and closet lights.
We had some cow pictures hanging In the kitchen by the laundry room door. You had to go out that door and into the laundry room to go out the back door. That was the way in and out of the house for us as the driveway was right out the back door. We would come home sometimes and one of the cow pictures would be in the floor were you could barely open the laundry room door to actually get into the house. That picture got messed with frequently.
What finally got me, was when I was out of town working and my boyfriend called me and I could tell by the trimble in his voice that something was not right. He said “something crazy is going on at the house” I said “what do you mean”? He said “something crazy”. I asked what he was doing and he said “he was standing in the kitchen with his AR”. This made me chuckle because what’s that going to do to a ghost?
I had to go as I was at work. I got a video (I’ll include in this mass message) a few seconds later. I was in total shock. It was the middle of the day and I was trying to think and convince myself of every way possible that the video he sent me couldn’t be real. It was very real and I was terrified! I told him to leave and go to my brothers or his parents or something. He did not. He stayed in the house that night and idk how he did it. I would’ve peed down both legs and not been able to stay by myself. I found a house in pampa within 3 weeks and we moved! I just couldn’t do it anymore!
I had asked our landlord of the house if he ever experienced anything while living there and he said that sometimes the skeleton key that went to the laundry room door would be on their kitchen table or counter instead of in the door where it was supposed to be, but they’d just chalked it up to there 2 sons playing with it.
Neither of us were ever harmed or anything, but it was for sure a wild experience! We joke about it now. We named the ghost EVA, as that was the ladies name that had owned the house forever before our landlords bought it when she passed. We joked that she must not have liked men and that’s why I never really experienced the sorts of things my boyfriend did. I never really was a believer in ghost before these occurrences took place. And although I never physically saw a “ghost” in any form, I had the eerie feelings and the very odd feelings in that house!
