Kathy Rawls, owner of Galbraith House Bed and Breakfast Inn, 1710 S. Polk St., agreed to let McBee's group investigate after some unsettling events at her historic home, built in 1912 for the lumber merchant H.W. Galbraith. Rawls was ironing tablecloths in her basement one day and a tight-fitting door suddenly flung open. No one was in the room, and a hot water heater nearby quit working. .........
The Palo Duro Room, an orange room on the second floor, also has been the scene of unexplained events - and an unusual visitor.
"That's where people tell me they have seen the young lady with the dark hair," Rawls said. "My innkeeper and her husband were awakened one night. All the lightbulbs had been unscrewed. When they went to bed, they were all screwed in. They refused to stay here any more."
In another room, guests have reported an older couple that often shows up at parties.

H. W. and Katie Galbraith House
Constructed in 1912 for lumber merchant H.W. Galbraith (d. 1936) and his wife Kate (d. 1969), this two-story residence reflects the Craftsman style. Exhibiting quality materials in the clapboards, exposed rafters, and shingled roof, the house also features strong geometric lines in its low-pitched hipped roof, second story balcony, and two-bay front porch with paired columns set on brick supports. The house remained in the Galbraith family until 1970.
