About San Jacinto Heights
San Jacinto Heights was developed primarily during the 1920s and expanded through the 1940s and 1950s. The neighborhood sits west of downtown Amarillo and became one of the city's established middle-class neighborhoods. Many of its homes were occupied by:
- Railroad employees
- School teachers
- Small business owners
- Tradesmen
- Veterans returning from World War II
The area is known for its mix of 1920s bungalows, Tudor cottages, and post-war homes like this one.
