Tales of 17 Years Working at Northwest Texas Hospital
The Curtain
So when my mom worked there it was a retirement home. In the basement there’s this long hallway leading to the old ambulance bay, at the beginning of the hall on the left there was a kitchen/storage room area and on the right was a prep kitchen to make the residents lunch.
There wasn’t an actual door to this room, so they put a curtain up. My mom was working one morning cutting vegetables to get ready for lunch, she feels cold air on the back of her neck so she turns around and the curtain on the door was PARALLEL TO THE CEILING and she heard footsteps walk through the door and the curtain went back to cover the door.
My mom checked the hallway to see if there was a door or window open where wind could’ve caused it but everything was closed.
Side note, she worked there for 17 years and that hallway creeeeeeeped me tf out every single time I’d walk through it.
Helen
We went under a renovation in 2010 and one of the residents that lived on the 5th floor wanted to see the final results but didn't want to be there during it.
She fell a few months before they started work on the 5th floor and ended up passing away.
One day the job supervisor took the carpenter up to the 5th floor to that particular resident's old room and before he let the carpenter in, he told "Helen" to behave.
The carpenter asked what he was doing and the supervisor told him that the apartment was haunted by a sweet mischievous old lady. The carpenter just brushed it off and went in.
About 10 minutes later the carpenter called the supervisor and told him he couldn't get out of the apartment.
The supervisor went up there with another worker to see what was going on and sure enough, the door wouldn't open, even though both doorknob and deadbolt were unlocked.
All three men tried to get it open but it wouldn't budge.
Finally the supervisor got fed up and told "Helen" to behave and open the door. The door suddenly opens by itself and the carpenter ran out of the apartment and down 5 flights of stairs and out of the building and refused to come back on the property.
That's just one of many concerning that floor.
The Pull Cord
Every apartment had emergency pull cords in every bedroom that would alert the front desk by lighting up on the control panel so we would know if someone needed help.
While the workers were on the 5th floor, the pull cord control panel kept going off.
The receptionist called the job supervisor and asked him to tell the workers not to pull those. He told them but they kept going off.
The supervisor decided to clear his workers off the floor, cut all power to the floor, lock all access to the floor, and they all headed down to the 1st floor.
About 10 minutes later, every single pull cord on the 5th floor went off.
There was no one on that floor and there was no power to the entire floor.
